GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chesapeake officials said that Elbow Road between Chesapeake and Virginia Beach will be closed for 10 months due to a bridge replacement near Stumpy Lake — drivers must use alternate routes like Lynnhaven Parkway and Indian River Road. Virginia Beach Public Works noted that access to the pier at Stumpy Lake will remain open during the project. 3 WTKR
- ➤ Regional transit leaders met Tuesday at a State of Transit event hosted by Hampton Roads Transit to discuss the future of public transportation across Hampton Roads—key issues included safety, bus frequency for ADA passengers, and a looming federal funding expiration. Leaders plan to ask Congress for $138 billion for transit and an additional $130 billion for rail. 13 News Now

- ➤ Sentara has started its first neurology residency program in Hampton Roads to meet the growing need for improved neurological care. The program begins with three residents and will expand to four after the first year—providing training at multiple Sentara hospitals including Sentara CarePlex in Hampton. 3 WTKR
- ➤ National Teen Driver Safety Week is an initiative that teaches teen drivers to drive safely as car crashes are a leading cause of death for ages 15 to 18 and more than 17,000 crash incidents involved teens in Virginia last year—AAA Tidewater advises limiting trips and extra passengers to help teens avoid distractions and build on their driving skills. 13 News Now
