- ➤ RESET Inc. runs a 24/7 food pantry on South Military Highway in Chesapeake that helps about 500 people each week with food, hygiene supplies, and other essentials. Founded by Sabrina Davis in 2023, the nonprofit is raising funds—$45,000 is needed for a refrigerated van to expand mobile deliveries—and is hosting local events to support its mission. 13 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Federal prosecutors have launched a website to provide updates on a criminal case against Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for healthcare fraud and conspiracy linked to disgraced doctor Javaid Perwaiz—an indictment from January 2025 alleges the hospital granted privileges despite known risks while it pleads not guilty and awaits a ruling on its motion to dismiss. 13 News Now
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Windsor Woods saw flooding on Tuesday when heavy rains filled the streets with water — local officials said 7.5 inches of rain overwhelmed the drainage system and a new pump station will be built to help drain the area before the project is complete in 2031. 3 WTKR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Early voting begins today at the Registrar's Office at 411 Cedar Rd.—voters may also use satellite offices across Chesapeake as ballots are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on select Saturdays in October. A key contest is the sheriff's race, with incumbent Dave Rosado running as a write-in candidate against Wallace Chadwick III. 3 WTKR
