  • Players from The Party Animals and The Firefighters built and installed a playset for Chesapeake toddler Fisher Blankenship, who was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and is treated at CHKD in Norfolk. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At about 7:16 p.m. on I-64 eastbound near Greenwood Drive, Virginia State Police said 32-year-old Justin Vieira lost control at high speed, hit a guardrail, and his car flipped several times—he was not wearing a seatbelt and later died at Norfolk Sentara Hospital.  3 WTKR

CRIME NEWS

  • Norfolk saw a 39% drop in homicides from January to June compared to the same period last year — Police Chief Mark Talbot said crime is down but warned there remains work to be done — as efforts to reduce crime continue.  13 News Now
