- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads began Women Build Week in Norfolk to build two homes on Vincent Avenue for families in need; prospective homeowner Nasheeda Douglas said she waited nearly three years to pursue homeownership after personal losses. The project, built mainly by volunteers (85% of the labor), will be finished before Thanksgiving so the families can enjoy their first holiday meal in a new home. 13 News Now

- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved two additional landfill cells for SPSA in Suffolk that extend its capacity until at least 2060—SPSA must still secure a conditional use permit from Suffolk and will offset wetland impacts using credits from mitigation banks. 13 News Now

- ➤ Virginia governor race candidates Abigail Spanberger and Winsome Earle-Sears discussed plans for public safety, education, and labor unions ahead of early voting that will begin in a few weeks. Spanberger said she would address affordability and strengthen worker protections while Earle-Sears promised strict law enforcement and greater school choice—marking the first time both major parties have nominated women for governor. 3 WTKR
