Good morning, Chesapeake.

Local animal shelters across Hampton Roads are overwhelmed by peak kitten season as many cats are not spayed or neutered, leading to an influx of unwanted litters and a shortage of vets.

Shelter officials ask residents to adopt, donate, or foster (options that help ease overcrowding) as staff work with limited resources.

Chesapeake police said a multi-vehicle crash at Mount Pleasant Road and Willow Oak Road killed a motorcyclist just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday—his motorcycle hit a truck and a mid-size SUV and life-saving measures were attempted before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
