CRIME NEWS

  • Chesapeake police said Jeffery Curtis Leffel is accused of secretly filming people using a single-use restroom at a medical facility on 1933 Edwin Drive from December 2021 to May and is in custody—police ask anyone who may have been recorded to contact Crime Investigations.  13 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chesapeake Police is asking local businesses to join the Chesapeake Camera Sharing program to boost public safety by linking security cameras to its Real Time Crime Center — the free setup is offered to the first 50 businesses, and a Flock Safety representative will visit in July to assist with integration.  13 News Now
  • Local fire officials say that cost increases and supply chain delays are making it harder to update emergency vehicles—departments now face wait times of two to four years. Norfolk recently welcomed a new $930,000 engine—while a technical rescue vehicle is set to cost $1.8 million and will take 40 months to be ready.  13 News Now
