  • Chesapeake firefighters responded Thursday evening after a 911 call reported a distressed boat on Lake Drummond taking on water—three rescue boats from near the Dismal Swamp Canal helped the two adults and two children safely return to a Suffolk pier.  3 WTKR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Chesapeake Fire Department has launched a bike program with eight personnel to improve response times at large events at Chesapeake City Park—each bike carries specialized backpacks for trauma and cardiac emergencies. The department said the initiative, inspired by similar efforts in other Hampton Roads cities, will help first responders navigate crowded areas more quickly.  3 WTKR

  • A Chesapeake dad created a fitness coloring book to help fight childhood obesity by combining exercise with fun art.
