  • The Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads connects teens with service opportunities as high school volunteers Dorinda Ludy and Marlena Frazier became close friends while volunteering in Virginia Beach. The non-profit will raise $20,000 during Give Local 757 on Tuesday, May 6 to hire part-time staff—supporting future programs for youth volunteers.  13 News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Since 2020, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's HOPE Program has helped over 500 survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by providing free trauma-informed care and emergency support. The program will soon train local community members to spot signs of abuse as it monitors an increase in strangulation cases—raising concerns about escalating violence.  13 News Now
