  • Fifteen years ago the region experienced a historic tornado outbreak that struck eastern Virginia and North Carolina, killing 26, injuring hundreds, and severely damaging places such as Page Middle School in Gloucester County and a path stretching 30 miles in eastern Virginia.  13 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Chesapeake will convert a 165ft section of Guerriere Street in South Norfolk into a pedestrian plaza offering seating and local artwork. Construction will begin in early 2028 after the new municipal center opens, and residents can share input via a survey open through April 30 (local input).  3 WTKR
  • Tax experts in Chesapeake urge late filers to request an IRS extension that offers six months to gather missing documents and consult professionals about new tax rules. They advise those owing money to send payments now to avoid penalties while using IRS PINs to secure their identity during AI-assisted tax preparation.  3 WTKR
