ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire on Keats Station in Chesapeake displaced residents Sunday afternoon when the fire was reported at 1:53 p.m. and controlled by 2:10 p.m.—no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.  13 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chesapeake City Council is considering a 2-cent increase in the real estate tax to fund new fire and police upgrades—public feedback is invited—to help pay for improvements in the FY 2026 budget.  3 WTKR
  • Alexzandria Hunt was fired from the Hampton VA Medical Center during mass layoffs and was reinstated with back pay after a court order — she is on administrative leave until she begins work at the new North Battlefield Outpatient Clinic in Chesapeake. The clinic will have a ribbon cutting on April 10 and will open on April 17.  13 News Now
